Preston provides trading and industry research services covering alternative energy, natural resources and cannabis. Additionally, he provides compliance & regulatory analysis services, and recommendations for private and listed companies. He has created and administered Continuing Education programs pertaining to contractual analysis, negotiations, and Anti-Money Laundering (AML).
Prior to joining CVC Partners and Alinga Capital, Preston spent ten years in the financial services space, with institutions such as The Vanguard Group, Wachovia Securities / Wells Fargo Advisors, and MetLife Securities.
With contributions to New Leaf Data Services, Cannabis Benchmarks® and Hemp Benchmarks®, Preston covers the hemp and cannabis-infused derivatives market. He provides emerging enterprises with business appraisals, valuation strategies, and a path for licensed participants to engage with a fund and commodities trading platform.
He provides public speaking services at educational symposiums relating to the “Cannabis Economics” series he developed, the latest installment of which is “Cannabis Economics 104: The Time Value of Cannabinoids.” He has been selected to speak at events and for organizations such as the CannaGrow Expo, the Industrial Hemp Association, the Industrial Hemp Summit, the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research, and Marijuana Business Daily / MJBizCon Int’l.
Preston is an instructor for the Women’s Cannabis Chamber of Commerce, and is on the Board of Directors. He is an adviser to the Texas Hemp Harvesters Association.
Preston received his Bachelor of Science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, his MBA from Wake Forest University, a Juris Doctor from Thomas Jefferson School of Law, a Masters in Finance from Boston College, and he was sponsored to complete a graduate program through the London School of Economics and training through Harvard’s Program on Negotiation.
Preston has developed a CEO Business Course for Women Cultivating Success Conferences. The 3.5 course covers how to prepare for investors, partnerships and mergers.
