Over a decade ago (2010) I was struggling with what to name the chamber of commerce I was launching. The issue was the use of the word cannabis. I was aware of the role marketing plays in business success. At this point in my entrepreneurial career, I had opened a social media marketing company. I would never advise a client to use the word cannabis in their company name or marketing. It would be business sabotage and swift business suicide.
I started and failed at my first business in 1969. By 2010 I had 42 years of experience creating and launching businesses.
Other women journaled about their personal experiences and growth. My journal was titled: Don’t Do That Again, an account of my bad business decisions.
Armed with knowledge and experience, I launched the Cannabis Chamber of Commerce. I quickly realized my mistake. It was obvious there needed to be a National Women’s Cannabis Chamber of Commerce that focused on the issues and obstacles of women starting careers and companies in the cannabis space and how to succeed.
I created the Women’s Cannabis Chamber of Commerce for a future I could not imagine. My goal was to build an organization that would continue to serve women for decades to come.
Launching as the Women’s Cannabis Chamber of Commerce was a huge gamble. The risk and sacrifice has been greater than I anticipated. In moments of exhaustion and frustration, I ask myself “WTF was I thinking?”. I laugh because I know what I was thinking. The cannabis industry is a huge opportunity for women to realize their dreams and achieve financial success. It is an opportunity to create an equitable industry, changing the dynamics of business. One woman can change the world, together we can fast track change.
Like the cannabis industry, WCCC member benefits continue to evolve to meet the needs of entrepreneurs. The most important benefit is something I can not put into words. It is what happens when people begin to connect and begin conversations. It happens quickly, without marketing slogans, SEO or agendas. It produces resources, education, mentoring, commerce and community. It is organic.
This undefinable “It” is why WCCC hosts Regional Dinners and Women Luncheons.
“It” is why WCCC events are designed for strategic networking, and brings successful cannabis entrepreneurs to the stage to speak on How to Succeed in the Cannabis Industry. “It” is why event attendees, sponsors and speakers are curated to make “It” happen. I don’t know how to describe this intangible “It” on the website. I do know that I want everyone to Get “IT”!
Let’s connect and make “IT” happen.
Addison Morris, Founder & CEO
The Women’s Cannabis Chamber of Commerce is and has always been a huge women’s right project disguised and structured as a business.
The project or mission statement is to move women beyond empowerment into powerful careers, business ownership and financial success within the cannabis space.
I have been standing on the same soap box and shouting the same message since I was fifteen. So, at 74, this is no longer a cause or a commitment, it is an obsession. I am obsessed with equal rights, equal opportunities, seats at the table and financial success for women, especially women in the cannabis space.
Women are the foundation and the heart of the cannabis industry. And, most of us are invisible.
Women have been Shouting from our soap boxes, protesting, working harder, getting better educated, and acting with integrity of word. Over centuries these actions have given women rights and moved us forward. But, none of these things have gotten us more respect or made achieving financial success easier.
It’s time for a reality check – The rights the women who came before us fought for are no longer a guarantee. We no longer live in a world where respect is earned. We live in a world where respect can be bought.
To say now is the time we need to work together is not only a cliche – it is stupid! We needed to be working together from day one of the cannabis industry.
“Membership is an Investment in Your Success” is a catchy tagline.
Your membership is actually your participation in a huge project designed to move women beyond empowerment into powerful careers, business ownership and opportunities within the cannabis space. The Women’s Cannabis Chamber of Commerce project involves showcasing women’s businesses, services, brands and expertise. This is a way for each of you to step up and make your presence and what you bring to the cannabis industry acknowledged. This project is a way to share the knowledge you’ve gained from being in the cannabis space, establishing your expertise.
It is a “look at me I’m here, I have expertise, services and products you need – I am a woman in the cannabis space and I’m here to stay” project, utilizing Cannabis ClipNotes, the Women Cultivating Success Directory,
Conversations with Women in the Cannabis Industry and WCCC Luncheons and Holiday High Tea.
The project involves expanding each member’s market reach and client or customer base with an aggressive marketing strategy for the Women Cultivating Success Directory.
Each member’s page contains their series of Cannabis ClipNotes, creating a business and educational video directory with an aggressive marketing strategy.
To be part of this project to move women into positions of financial success in their careers and businesses you need to be a member of the Women’s Cannabis Chamber of Commerce.
Currently membership is $375. There are several payment options available including payments of $35 a month. This will get your first Cannabis ClipNotes aired, the rest scheduled, and your page on the Directory before its launch on January 1st. The membership price is increasing on December 1st to $525
Becoming a member before December 1st will also lock you into the $375 membership fee if you choose to renew for another year.
One woman can change a community, together we can change an industry and our place in it.
Sneak Preview: Example of Member’s Page on the Women Cultivating Success Directory
I enjoy visiting other company’s websites. There are so many beautiful and creative sites.
The websites are easy to navigate and well thought out to reflect the brand. Getting every element of branding to sync is an art form.
Creating brand identity involves the use of color, design and logo to identify and distinguish the brand. To establish a product, service or public persona in the minds of consumers every aspect of branding needs to be consistent.
I struggle with website design relative to the Women’s Cannabis Chamber of Commerce websites. Color plays a major role in brand development. Different colors evoke different subconscious and conscious reactions.
We all know the phrases “psychology of color” and “psychology of branding.” In those terms WCCC’s dark green is described as “a sophisticated hue, providing a sense of luxury, wisdom, and a sense of wealth and refinement. The addition of metallic colors of gold and silver adds to the perception of wealth, prosperity and success. This is consistent with the Women’s Cannabis Chamber of Commerce’s main agenda; to create commerce (financial success) for our members.
I love WCCC’s colors, but I have to admit they can be boring to work with. My preference for simple, clean, straight to the information – no bullshit website layouts is boring and limiting.
There were seven designs created for the member’s page on the Women Cultivating Success Directory. Attached is the first design and the one we are going with.
In case you are asking why Women Cultivating Success Directory and not the Women’s Cannabis Chamber of Commerce Director or WCCC Directory:
Our members are Women Cultivating Success.
The Women’s Cannabis Chamber of Commerce Directory is too long.
The industry is inundated with acronyms containing W’s and C’s.
